Brighton woman released after two assault charges laid

In Brighton, a husband allegedly gets punched in the face early in the day, then, while sitting down minding his own business at a computer terminal later in the day, he allegedly gets punched in the face several more times. Two charges of assault are laid against the woman. The news reports that she was then released into the wild.

If a man punched a woman in the face several times, he wouldn’t be released, and if he was, there certainly would be a howl from local feminists, and rightly so. Were there any conditions set for her release? Is she permitted to return to the scene of the assault? In Canada there are no shelters for men who have been assaulted by their spouses, although Stats Can clearly indicates that women assault their spouse almost as often as men.

Spot The Cobourgers

BIRTH OF A CLEAR VISION 1976
This video was made on half-inch reel-to-reel video tape, transferred to 1inch cartidge video tape, transferred to 3/4 inch VHS tape transferred to dvd and finally to MPEG3. That explains the deterioration of quality.

This event took place on the grassy knoll at the base of the CN Tower on its opening day to the public. The participants were mostly Cobourgers. Can you identify them? It was 32 years ago. They were the Poetariet of the Peoples Republic of Poetry there to "worship" the CN Tower by chanting the word ON. The police were called in, and the Poetariet was escorted off the grounds. CTV National News at 11 reported on the incident.

Assorted photographs of the event can be enjoyed in a slide show by clicking here.
