It would have been better if it was a chainsaw massacre, but the town's work crews decided to give the Christmas trees the ax. As you can see, it was a hatchet job.The trees were embedded into the frozen ground, so they couldn't be pulled out. I sure hope the town has some effective liability insurance in case some individual trips, falls and impales themselves.
Really, couldn't these trees have been cut down with a saw, making the stumps flat?
