No doubt in my mind. As evidenced from these photos, Ribfest needs a different location for summer 2011. Victoria Park, Beach, Trailer Park and Marina are a treasure and unique to Ontario. We have a beautiful picnic area and children's waterpark with swings and a wooden ship for them to play on with sand underfoot so they are not hurt.
Ribfest left cedar cinders to soak up the oil large enough to cut a bare foot.

We have a nice area for the children, a frink, where wooden sailboats for children could sail, a marina, but Victoria Park is not well kept.

The trailor park is taking quite a chunk of our Park, and is not for our use. The trailors are seasonal, with temporary fences, clothes lines and they make camp fire.

I agree a different location is needed for festivals. There is a limit to abuse and repair.

Other places are also quite charming near Lakes. Ontario does not have the vision on cleanliness and green space I saw elsewhere.

Maybe one of the members of the Cobourg Rotary Club who organize and profit from the Ribfest would be able to offer their property to hold the event in 2011

We have an underused pier,(now we can take a jump from the pier, it's an excellent step),a zoned heritage park not respected (trailors are on one big area),an underused huge ballroom from Victoria Hall (no dancing is promoted for the summer or winter!)an awful rock garden in lieu of grass and willows.

We need a fuller vision to embrace life in a Town on Lake Ontario.

The Ribfest has nothing to do directly with Lake Ontario, so this is another reason to find them a new location. Already the waterfront festival is crowding condos on the waterfront, and has nothing to offer with the water. It is about consuming goods, let's face it.

Let's remember that Ontario means "beautiful water" in the huron language. We should be able to work something out in a civil manner. Let's think it over and fast to relocate wingdings.

If the Ribfest is moved, we should explore more our waterfront. Who do we do this. I suggest the following:

We could have a summer youth theatre. They could "pass the hat"if they want.

In Cobourg the kids are very good. I saw them acting Romeo & Juliette. (They can play in the park, or neara the marina, on the ground with a few pillars.)I saw that in the USA, it's quite beautiful!!!
-------------------------------
WE COULD ALSO DEVELOP OTHER ACTIVITIES AROUND THE THEATRE:

a)A festival of kites!(free of charge) someone could teach how to make them if you want;
b)A hot air balloon festival;
c)Canoo races in the lagoon, by the mounth of the harbour;
d)Sailing at a minimul fee; we have a sailing school;
e)Films on sailing,history of sailing;
f) Films on history of Lake Ontario;
g) WorKshop demonstration on wooden boats;
h) Ontario birds and film on them;
i) History of lighthouses in Ontario, film and books;
j) In association with the library we should have charts, courses on reading them, a special area on the library should allow such knowledge, as we live by the lake.
k) Free sandsculptures, for everyone in Town;
l) An afternoon coloring, free of charge for todlers. Scenes of the Lake and of the harbour.
m) Boatrides for Cobourgers who never took a ride on the water to see their Town, from Lake Ontario, just around the mouth,(25 or 30 minutes only).
n) Squadron association give a class demonstration;
o) Bonfire on the beach, and celebration of another year. In Portugal we burn the bad spirits every year. Here mythology is never included in the Ontario culture.
p) A Ball celebrating the summer in the park. Epoch costume should be the dressing code. (No halloween costumes).Cobourg was founded around 1798, so we should wear these costumes;
r) Pictures and history of notable Cobour residents :

John Douglas Armour:Puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Canada;

Charles Arkoll Boulton: militia leader in the Red River Rebellion;

James Cockburn: lawyer and Father of Confederation;

Marie Dressler: silent film actress;

Francis P. Duffy: military Chaplain of the Fighting 69th New York Regiment during WWI;

Sir Sandford Fleming: who helped create and define the idea of time zones;

Ed Greenwood: author of the Forgotten Realms setting for Dungeons & Dragons;

Rev. John Weir Foote: politician, chaplain, and Victoria Cross recipient;

Ebenezer Perry: Cobourg's police commissioner;

William Renwick Riddell: judge and historian;

Justin Williams: NHL hockey player;

s) Large mansions and history of their families who used Lake Ontario; pictures of their boats;

I question where you would like to have the events held. One poster suggested that the Waterfront festival is crowding out the condos. I believe, the waterfront festival was there prior to the building of the condos.
Lots of complaints here, not a lot of suggestions as to where they can be relocated too. I would also suggest, the Waterfront festival is just that a Waterfront festival. It is in a park for all to enjoy. With varied entertainments for all. Again, where should these events be held??
