Extremely Elitest, smacks of a touch of racism, Mr Keeler, you have no idea what todays youth want, or need. What was, will never be again, grow up, its the 21st century.

Wally Keeler said...

I'm still growing; you're just starting.

Actually, in age we are not that far apart. Our outlook on what was, is, and will be are far different. I come from the land of the tree huggers, I understand completely what it means to be green. My hometown has more, and larger parks then Cobourg has. With a slightly smaller population due to economics. The difference being they are far more natural then the groomed and manicured Victoria Park.
If making comments about "migrants" is growing I hope to never shrink to your height.

Wally Keeler said...

What comments about migrants? What is your beef about that? Be specific, rather than generic, so we can ascertain the veracity of your presumptuousness.

And what you know about youth that I don't know?

Anonymous said...

Actually I have two teenagers. I believe that I would know a touch more about it then you. Actually quite a bit more then a touch.

I find it really amusing that your saying NO to Ribfest in Victoria Park, but heading up a blog that wants to end the NO signs and what not by the town ooooh they hypocrisy of it all. WOW.
Migrants, lol, you stated it in a previous blog. To me, that sounds just a bit Racist. But thats just me. The them and us thing wow.. unless you didnt mean it as a derogatory way. Please enlighten me on that.

I requested, "What comments about migrants? What is your beef about that? Be specific, rather than generic, so we can ascertain the veracity of your presumptuousness."

You failed to be specific. I will not address your groundless innuendo otherwise. Put up or shut up. You claim something is derogatory, but refuse to say what it was. I haven't a clue about what you are accusing me of, nor does anyone else. Put up or shut up.

Spineless Anonymous proudly claims "Actually I have two teenagers. I believe that I would know a touch more about it then you. Actually quite a bit more then a touch."

I have a 22 year old son. You have two teenagers. OK, I acknowledge that in all respects pertaining to youth, you are the far superior and vastly greater informed. In other cultures the testimony of a woman is worth a quarter of a man's. Your assertion is falacious and ludicrous.

I certainly hope that your two teens don't end up as semi-literate as yourself. You have a chronic problem with your usage of "then". The word you should be using is than.

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous asserted that I posted something that is "just a bit Racist." When I requested that my specific words be presented, Spineless Anonymous replied, "Migrants, lol, you stated it in a previous blog."

To which I ask; Stated what? In the western judicial system, a groundless accusation has zero merit. That's justice. So put up.

ooops sorry,, deflection is so much like you. you used the word "migrants" in a previous blog. in a tone i found to be a touch racist. As in us and them. Yes Wally I have two teenagers, you have a 22 year old. Proudly, lol, wow, deflection again. Stick to topic, you state that the pier would be the ideal place for ribfest, but when its pointed out that the services required to place the said event there, you make no comment. You claim I was knee jerk in my statement that the pier was not large enough. Demand I do an intelligent layout to make it work. Wally, your the one demanding the changes, YOU do the layout. Why should I? I stated that it was not the place for it, I gave you my reasons, yours was the knee jerk response. Prove me wrong. Provide me and your millions of readers with a layout, provide me with a way for the services needed to be provided. This is your idea Wally, instead of just standing there and screaming about the grass, give us all a viable alternative.
Remeber, to include those little items that will be needed.

Make sure you have a bandshell that is as large as the one in Victoria Park, put in the entrance and exits. you will need to take into account the mounting of the fencing all the way around. oh and some shelter from the elements, not to mention a way to tie down those trailers from the winds we get out there, wouldnt want one of those ribbers to head east or west due to strong winds out on the pier.

Now, this should give you something to think about. As to being spineless, for not signing my name. lol now that is really poor deflection. Answer the questions. Please point this illerate person to the right answers. Do NOT deflect. That means answer the questions.

Again, I will point out the NO blog. You want Cobourg to stop with the NO signs. However, you have decided on NO Ribfest in Victoria Park. Seems the hypocrisy is deep in this Blog. Care to elaborate on your position, clarify it for me. Why is it ok for YOU to say NO, 30,000 + Northumberland residents said YES, by attending, butnot ok for others to say NO. wow.

Anonymous said...

Spineles, lol.. ohh down to name calling now are you.. tch tch.
I will restate, again, and again if required, Where are the needed items to come from for Ribfest to be held on the pier? Electricity, water, shade, fencing, the band shell of adequate size in a too small foot print? Where is the layout I asked for of said pier? Why dump the "meat and potatoe" requirements on my door? This is YOUR idea, follow up.
I also asked why you are heading up the NO campaign, but you are saying NO to Ribfest. Is this not a bit, nay sir, a hugely Hypocritical bit of blogging on your part? I am still waiting for a response Wally.

Spineless in Cobourg lol

So in one post you say that the testimony of a woman is worth a 1/4 of a mans, yet you follow up by saying we are western. Yes Wally, based on what I have read here, from your own "pen", I do have far more knowledge about what the youth want from this world. But thats just me, your millions of readers could think other wise. This is the western world, I am allowed to say what is on my mind.
So come on, give my your answers to the questions I have been asking, you have asked for a little answer from me, I have given it, now answer the burning questions. Just how, in a smaller misshapened footprint, with no shade, no water, no electricity, no protection from the elements, no band shell, etc etc.. how are YOU going to have this event, something, and I will repeat it for you, just incase you forgot it, that 30,000 plus residents of Northumberland attended and enjoyed, with out those simple little things. I am waiting...
Spineless in Cobourg. lol

Spineless Anonymous begs, "So come on, give my your answers to the questions I have been asking, you have asked for a little answer from me, I have given it, now answer the burning questions."

You have only made an accusation. I asked you to produce the actual words I posted that led you to assert "Extremely Elitest, smacks of a touch of racism." Then you continued, "Migrants, lol, you stated it in a previous blog. To me, that sounds just a bit Racist."

What was it I stated?

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous says, "in a smaller misshapened footprint, with no shade, no water, no electricity, no protection from the elements, no band shell, etc etc."

I follow the fence of Ribfest in Vic Park and it is more mishapen than the rectangular pier.

Tents provide shade. There was a tent in Vic Park's Ribfest. But some people like sun.

Tents provide protection from the elements just like in Vic Park when it rained.

Electricity was provided by a portable generator in Vic Park. A huge vehicle that trampled grass. A generator also provided power to the numerous Canada Day rides on the pier.

Water can be provided by a water tanker.

Don't need a bandshell. A portable stage works in many many venues.

etc etc etc etc

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous whines, "Where is the layout I asked for of said pier?"

Where is the proof of your peurile accusation that I made a racist comment?

"I also asked why you are heading up the NO campaign"

What campaign? One posting of a series of photos of NO Signs does not a campaign make. It appears that you are showing NO signs of intelligence.

Wally Keeler said...

Confused Anonymous writes "Again, I will point out the NO blog."

There is no "NO blog". There is a posting on the Cobourg of All Things blog. You seem to have difficulty with accuracy.

Confused Anonymous writes, "You want Cobourg to stop with the NO signs.

It was a photo essay. Obviously you know shit about culture and youth.

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous gets all self righteous and writes, "Spineles, lol.. ohh down to name calling now are you.. tch tch."

If I called you an asshole, that would be name-calling. By calling you spineless, I am applying an accurate adjective to the fact that you remain anonymous, too afraid to openly own up to your words. Coward. Spineless. By comparison, I attach my name to my words. I am fearless. You are spineless.

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous claims, "However, you have decided on NO Ribfest in Victoria Park.

Primarily, I have said NO more damage to the grounds of Victoria Park. I suggested to town council that some absorbent material or platform be placed under the huge cooking rigs to prevent contamination and despoilment of the lawn by cooking grease and oil.

Then I suggested the rigs be parked on Queen St between McGill & Church. Then I suggested the rigs be parked on McGill. For the reason of NO more contamination and despoilment of the lawn.

The lawn was contaminated the year previous, which I photo-documented and posted. This indicates that Northumberland Ribfest couldn't care less about Victoria Park.

The fact remains that Northumberland Ribfest caused more damage to the grounds of Victoria Park than a full summer of out of town tourists.

You are bereft of any idea of how to prevent any further damage to the park. I made suggestions. You make nothing but groundless boastful remarks about your superiority about understanding youth, and groundless accusations of racism.

Northumberland Rib fest would be better held in James Cockburn Park or in Northam Industrial park. Both have space, more than Vic Park. More room to grow. Fewer nearby residents to bother with loud rock and roll.

What ideas do you have my semi-literate poster?

Wally Keeler said...

Spineless Anonymous posted, "Where is the layout I asked for of said pier?

You are a bullshit liar. You never asked for any such thing from me. Take a look at the thread of your comments and tell me where you had made any such request? You are a semi-literate bullshit liar.

Wally Keeler said...

Semi-literate Anonymous posts, "...give my your answers to the questions..."

You are in need of a refresher course in basic English. No wonder you are afraid to own your words.

Anonymous said...

Your the one that used the word migrants, go back and reread your own posts. I found the context it was used in as distasteful. I found it smacked of a racist and Elitist attitude. Like you said Wally, its a free world, I can believe what I want.
I went down a week or so ago, took a look at YOUR park, low and behold, there was a park truck driving across the lawn, all the "dead" grass was gone, except where the picnic tables are locked to the ground. Approximately 3 days after Ribfest closed, I was also down at YOUR park, to see 2-300 kids running around on the grass. Wow Wally, your park was really taking a beating. The other thing I noticed on both trips, was the wood chips, hmmm they were still there, when I asked why, I was told they were put down to soak up all the rain water along the walk way.NOT to soak up oil from the BBQs.
Less then 3 weeks after Ribfest closed, you can not tell it was even there. This includes the yellow areas you photographed.
You do know what happens when you put a piece of wood on grass and leave it there for 4-5 days right Wally? The grass yellows from lack of sunshine. Something that corrects itself once it is removed. Wally, you want YOUR park for you. I want Victoria Park for everyone. Ribfest is for everyone.
I will call your NO photo essay just that, to help you understand. You ran around taking pictures of the NO signs. The rules of the park, and of the surrounding area.
Yet you do not see the hypocrisy of your saying NO Ribfest in YOUR Park. lol. wow. Again, I will repeat it for you Wally, the park is for everyone, your views on what it should be, are yours, not mine, and from what I can tell, about 30,000 plus residents of this area, feel the same way. Now, answer me the question that I have been asking, and yet I doubt you will answer it, Why are you right, and 30,000 plus residents WRONG?

Anonymous said...

Hey Wally,
Here are the questions for you
1) Why are you right and 30,000 plus residents wrong?
2) How do you put that many people on the smaller foot print that is the east pier?
3) Will you supply a layout of your purposed Ribfest location on the pier?
4) Who pays for the extra tents, generators, water tankers, fencing, etc etc?

Look four (4) simple questions.
Oh, while your at it, look to the logistics of getting a honey truck out on to the pier to empty the Johnsons. Once you have the band shell up, that will be impossible.
Plus a myriad of other things that will be sure to crop up during the planning. Access to the pier would be severly limited, it is now, with the Midway during the waterfront festival, when you place the band shell on the north end of the pier. Just some things I thought should be brought up.
